Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. is a local San Francisco jewelry wholesale company. Established in 1983, Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. began in a small showroom in the new San Francisco Jewelry Center under the careful guidance of Penny Thamkul. From a young age, Penny had a fond longing to enter into the jewelry industry, having come from a background of jewelers. Following in the footsteps of her father, an expert gem cutter in Thailand, Penny worked to achieve more than just a family business. Having studied in the United States, Penny used her skills and her knowledge to build up a strong following, and in 1983, she opened Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. with the goal of offering jewelry of the highest quality at the lowest prices to her loyal customers. Recruiting a skilled and trained staff, Penny was able to expand Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. in 1995, moving to a larger, two-showroom location on the other side of the San Francisco Jewelry Center building, where we have remained for more than ten years.

Even though Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. has constantly brought new and different fashions and remodelled its interior to better suit the changing styles over these past twenty years, one core tenet has remained constant throughout our history: dedication to our customers. When Penny Thamkul chose the name "Mee Seng" to christen her business, she wanted to fully realize both meanings of that phrase. In Thai, the meaning of "Mee Seng" is "possessing brilliant light", whereas the Chinese translation indicates "beautiful abundance and treasure". To this day, Mee Seng Gemcutters, Inc. adheres firmly to its namesake, striving to bring vibrancy and value into every piece of merchandise we offer.
